The Triad Counties Pirate Club, a chapter of the East Carolina University Educational Foundation, Inc., The Pirate Club, is based in Greensboro, NC and encompasses Guilford, Rockingham and Randolph counties. The Triad region of North Carolina is made up of the areas of the cities of Greensboro, High Point and Winston Salem.

We have several fund raising events during the year including our annual benefit golf tournament. We assist with hosting the annual spring banquet which welcomes all alumni, regional members and friends of The Pirate Club,  and enjoys the attendance of the ECU athletic director, several of our coaches and Pirate Club administrators.

The Pirate Club is the major means of fund raising for ECU athletics. The foundation was incorporated in June 1948 for the purpose of “rendering financial and other assistance to deserving young men and women in assisting them to obtain an education, and to develop themselves physically and mentally and in other ways consistent with a broad education.”

Today, almost 60 years later, the ECU Educational Foundation continues to provide scholarships both annual and endowed. In addition, the Foundation’s by-laws have changed to include construction of athletic-related facilities, compensation assistance for coaches and key athletic programs of East Carolina University.
Without the financial support provided by the Pirate Club, the successful athletic program we now strive for will not be possible. The athletics department at East Carolina receives no tax dollars whatsoever for any phase of its operation.

The East Carolina University Educational foundation is the only official athletic fund-raising organization recognized by the University. The Pirate Club itself is a special source of pride of its members. Success enjoyed by the ECU athletic program has been related to the faithfulness of Pirate Club members and their financial support. Future successes will depend upon continued support of existing and new Pirate Club members.
